Good Substitute for David's Original Cocomint Cream Formulation |
1/22/2020 |
This formulation is a solid substitute for the original David's tea called Cocomint Cream - a mix of coconut and mint. (NB: Recently David's tea re-introduced a newer version of Cocomint Cream with white chocolate that was quite artificial tasting - this is not that tea). Original Cocomint fans will find this helpful: This tea tends more towards mint than coconut. In order for the coconut flavor to emerge, you need to steep the tea longer (5+ mins) and/or use coconut milk to boost. If you steep only 2 mins, you will only taste mint (which may explain some of the variation in comments). With the extra steep time, this tea is the most popular of my 30+ herbal 'teas' on my shelf when guests visit, meaning that it has broad appeal w/o the artificial enhancers. 4 stars instead of 5 b/c for my personal taste I would like a little less mint (perhaps more blackberry leaf in the ratio?) so that the coconut flavor comes out earlier in the taste, rather than being an end note, but I am not a big mint fan :) |

I was excited to try this tea as I’ve heard many good things from the David’s tea fan page on Facebook. The description sounds so good. However I was pretty disappointed in the taste. I don’t get any of the coconut or white chocolate. Unfortunately the peppermint dominates. It’s a good peppermint tea but doesn’t live up to its name. I am going to try adding some sweetener to see if that helps bring out some of the other flavors beside peppermint. |

Nice! |

I ordered this not knowing what to expect but its very good! Though there are plenty of apple pieces it doesnt taste specifically like eating an apple, its more of an apple undertone. Plenty of coconut and a refreshing mintiness without being overpowered by either. I assume its spearmint, at least it doesnt taste like peppermint to me. I wish they listed what was in the tea.
At any rate I really like it! I would definitely reorder if they keep it around (and I hope they do). If you like mint and coconut, but dont always want to be slapped in the face by either, this is the perfect balance. A nice comforting tea. |

I am in love with this tea, it is JUST like DAVIDs Cocomint Cream but its not going to get taken away from me at the end of the season!! This is a perfect balance of mint and a tropical aroma. It isnt sugary sweet, but you get the smell and feeling of the coconut, a fruitiness from the apple pieces, and the freshest mint Ive ever had in a tea. Simpson and Vail catered directly to my needs and requests on this tea, the most personable company I have made contact with or ordered from. It felt like I was talking to my family, this is the best customer service I have ever received. |
