Detailed Description
"However orderly your excursions or aimless, again and again amid the calmest, stillest scenery you will be brought to a standstill hushed and awe-stricken before phenomena wholly new to you" -John Muir on Yellowstone.

Yellowstone National Park After multiple explorations, it was decided that the unique geothermal properties of the area, now known as Yellowstone National Park, needed to be preserved. In 1872, President Grant signed a protection act in order to begin the preservation process, making Yellowstone the first official US national park. The National Park Service was not yet created, so the US Army took over responsibility of Yellowstone in order to strengthen and enforce regulations. Unfortunately, the Army was unable to effectively prevent poaching, especially of the nation's now oldest and largest public bison herd, and they also lacked the knowledge of the area that visitors craved. With the help of some influential conservationists, such as Theodore Roosevelt, John Muir, Woodrow Wilson, and many others, the National Park Service was created in 1916 with the top priority being preservation and appreciation for nature. In 1929, the same year Simpson & Vail was incorporated, Yellowstone received a boundary adjustment made to include a significant area of petrified trees (fossilized vegetation). Followed by a final boundary adjustment, in 1932, creating the final borders of the first US National Park that millions of people visit today.

Yellowstone National Park I found this a challenging blend to create. Not only is Yellowstone widely known, but Wyoming itself is one of my favorite places. So, representing my love for this area and the beauty of this famous park gave me pause. Ultimately, I decided to not only represent flora in the park, but also the visual delights found here. The multitude of colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring are shown within the blend, along with prickly pear flavoring for the cacti that grow in and around the park. To top it off I added a hint of bergamot to represent the "wild bergamot" flowers in the park. The resulting cup is fruity and flavorful with a sweet, creamy, prickly pear flavor and an underlying bergamot taste.

Ingredients: Black teas, prickly pear flavor, safflower, blue cornflower petals, strawberry pieces, oatstraw, and natural bergamot flavor.

Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.

4 Ounces of loose tea makes approximately 50 cups of tea.

Please note that the photo is shown for our 4oz tin. We are also offering this in a 4oz pkg size, which will come in one of our double lined bags labeled with the name of the tea.

We DONATE 10% of all tea sales in this line to help preserve our beautiful National Parks. The percentage from Yellowstone tea sales goes to Yellowstone Forever, the official non-profit of the park. Yellowstone Forever's mission of engagement and support through philanthropy and education for the park will ensure Yellowstone remains for generations to come.

Allegra-National Park In 2016 I started, while in college, working here at Simpson & Vail. I've enjoyed exploring the world of teas and decided in 2019 to combine my love of tea with my passion for the great outdoors. My goal with this line is to do my part in preserving the beautiful lands designated as national parks and to raise awareness for why the parks are so important. I've seen only a small portion of the unique lands we call National Parks, however, I'll continue exploring until I've seen them all.

So glad I tried this one 2/12/2021
Great tea! It's bright, bold and blends together seamlessly. I hope they expand upon this collection. Such a cozy tea that I look forward to having as often as I can. I love the strawberry in it. Will be re-purchasing for sure.

Amazing! 12/2/2020
This was a sample tea when I bought another National Park Tea. I initially didn't buy it because of the bergamot, as I'm not a fan of Earl Grey. But this was so amazing I had to buy a tin! The tea is very delicate, but still has the prominent flavor associated with the black tea base, nicely complemented by all the other ingredients. The bergamot is not overpowering, and I think adds to the tea complexity.

Yellowstone Stands Alone 10/5/2020
Just like the National Park that it is named for, this blend can stand alone. The unique combination of botanical flavors enhance the black tea blend without competing with it. The "hint" of bergamot is the perfect amount and along with the prickly pear flavor gives this tea a mildly acidic tone which I found refreshing. Although I liked this blend sweetened with a little wild Alaskan honey, I discovered I enjoyed it most standing alone. I will definitely include this choice in my next order.

Surprise favorite 6/16/2020
Upon reading the ingredient list I was intrigued, but not convinced... the aroma and taste are actually fantastic. The tea is not bitter at all and is quite enjoyable.

Really fruity 5/31/2020
I was curious about the idea of a prickly pear tea, and buying some also goes to a good cause, so it was definitely worth a try. It's a really pretty tea, and it smells a lot like candy or gum. It tastes a lot like it smells, with the strawberry and prickly pear taking the forefront. To be honest I didn't notice the bergamot at all. I've only tried it hot, but I imagine it'd make for a nice iced tea.

smells wonderful 4/12/2020
I received this as a sample. The smell was wonderful! I brewed it as recommended. The tea was smooth, no bitter and I picked up hint a peach. I don't prefer fruity teas warm, which is how I brewed it. It would probably be great as an iced tea.

Tasty & Beautiful 3/23/2020
Firstly, this blend it so stunning to look at dry! I can clearly see the Yellowstone influence in this blend. The aroma while dry is quite sweet and has a fruity bubblegum-like quality to it. Once brewed it still retains a sweet scent, but is slightly toned down. You can taste the strawberry and prickly pear quite nicely in this blend! I'm happy it's fruity without being overly tart. The tea is fantastic on it's own, but I urge others to try it with the cream or milk of their choice!
