Detailed Description

The tea culture in Vietnam has been alive and thriving for thousands of years. The Vietnamese drink vast amounts of tea that is produced within its borders, however, due to wars and conflicts through the years the tea in Vietnam has not been plentiful or in some cases handled with enough care and knowledge to make it a recognized tea in the world-wide market. That has all changed in recent years though. The tea growers in Vietnam have received help from Taiwanese growers in producing exquisite pouchong style oolong teas.

Oolong teas, aka wulong, are made from large leaves that are produced in the late Spring. Unlike other types of tea that contain the top leaves and the buds of the bush, oolong teas are large well formed leaves that will sometimes also contain the stem of the bush. Oolongs differ from green, black and white teas by the method of processing and are the most labor intensive tea to produce. Each type of Oolong varies in the percentage of oxidation and the method in which it is processed (some are twisted, tippy leaves, some are cut, some are rolled into small balls).

These tightly curled, deep olive-green leaves unravel to produce a pale green cup with a refreshing sweet and smooth taste. The tea has outstanding notes of honey with a slight spice aftertaste. A truly superior tea!

Brew tea at 180º - steep for 2 minutes. Try multiple infusions (let the tea steep for approximately 15 seconds longer on each subsequent infusion).

Surprising! 8/21/2017
I thought I would NEVER find a tea I love better than Formosa Jade Oolong. But for some reason, when I open my tea cupboard, I find myself ignoring Poor Jade, and moving right to this so-wonderful tea! Its kind to the mouth and the tummy, as a flavor its not completely unlike Formosa Jade, as it also has a edge of floral tone to it, only this tea takes a little step further- slightly mellower, slightly deeper undertones, and slightly more heavenly! You WANT this!

Tasty Tea 10/23/2014
This Oolong is very good. It brews up to a nice floral tasting cup. There is almost no bitterness to this tea, just a touch under the tongue. The dry leaves have an amazing aroma. This is an excellent tea well worth buying and definitely worth drinking.

Worth every penny 11/12/2013
The best oolong I have ever tasted. Enjoy the aroma as each pearl opens slowly to reveal two leaves and a bub.

The best tea Ive had 3/9/2013
I got this tea yesterday, since I was out of my Jade Oolong. This is far superior to any other oolong Ive ever had. It unfurls to beautiful full leaves and tips. The flavor is full, with almost a creamy feel to it, not bitter at all. After having this, I dont know if I could go back to any other.

Vietnam Imperial Oolong critique 2/22/2012
This tea is amazing. A very sensual taste for the palate. I have impressed many a tea afficianado with this oolong. In taste competitions we have held, the Vietnam Imperial Oolong has stood up to other oolongs that cost $200 and more for 4 ounces! Get jealous China /Taiwan Oolongs!!!!!!!
