Fishy |
5/9/2021 |
First let me say I own 70 canisters of Simpson and Vail teas and love 69 of them. I also have several other brands of Pu-erhs so am well aware of the taste profile. This one sadly tastes like rotting fish. Either the grower did not ferment it properly or it was shipped next to a crate of dead fish. Either way, it is now becoming plant food. |

Really tasty! |
4/7/2021 |
Just starting to explore Pu-erh teas, but I've really enjoyed this. As a neophyte, the mini tuocha formfactor makes serving size easy. Brews to a full body with an inky black/brown color. Very intense flavor: earthy with woodsy/mushroom character. I enjoyed this a lot. Can easily brew three or more times from the same leaves and track the evolution. |

Gone fishy |
4/25/2019 |
A fishy smell in the dry leaves is a mark of improperly stored ripe Pu Er, and, unfortunately, the pouch of mini-tuos I bought have it. In the future, I would recommend buying my ripe Pu Er elsewhere.
Making the best of a sub-par purchase, I find that 2 or 3 flash washes of the leaves before the first steep reduce the fishiness to a medicinal-herb aroma and bitterness much like horehound. I also detect a note of antique cedar wood and a slight peppery bite in the aftertaste. |

Tastes good |

Besides the many health benefits, I found out through natural curiosity, that after you brew it you can eat it too. It has a very nice malty flavor after you brew it and is chewy and delicious. Might as well waste not want not with this great tea. |

Excellent Puerh |
4/21/2014 |
This Puerh rates fave stars when compared to other mini tuocha puerh. It is not quite as good as a high quality Puerh cake where the better leaves are used. As tuocha goes it is quite tasty when brewed properly. By properly I mean in the Gongfu style. Give this tea a 10 sec rinse and then brew for 15 to 20 seconds. It will be tasty. Three to five minutes is overbrewing and all the bitterness in the tea will be brought out. I am guessing that this is a 2013 tea but by the taste it could be older. The older the better in Puerh. There is very little fermentation flavor left in the tea that I have. Fermentation flavor is normal for Puerh but leaves the tea as it ages. |
