Detailed Description
One of China's best-known teas, Gunpowder, is produced in the Zhejiang Province in eastern China. This tea was originally rolled into pellets (resembling gunpowder) to help keep it fresh for as long as possible on the long journey across the oceans.

The olive-green pellets, when brewed, unfurl into a long green leaf, with a pale green cup and a distinctive vegetal aroma. This certified organic Gunpowder is light, smooth and non-astringent, with just a touch of earthiness.

Brew tea at 180º - steep for 2 minutes.

Gunpowder tea pairs well with recipes for fish and smoked meats, and is excellent in salad dressings, sauces and spice blends.

Spicy Green Tea Dressing with Lemon and Basil

Ingredients:
1 tsp Gunpowder green tea
½ cup water
1 Tbsp honey
2 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 Tbsp fresh ginger, minced
2 Tbsp olive oil
½ cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
2 cloves garlic
½ small jalapeno chili pepper, seeded and minced
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp white pepper

Heat water to 180°. Place tea in the water, cover, and steep for 3 minutes. Strain and cool. Place brewed tea and all other ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Pour into a glass bottle and use right away. This dressing can be refrigerated for up to two weeks.

wish I could love it 6/27/2017
I really wanted to like this tea. I was used to Vietnamese tea but thought I would try something different. I found this tea stronger than I liked and lacking in subtle flavors that make drinking green tea a calming, pleasant experience.

Subtle flavor, Smoky 2/17/2017
This tea has a full-bodied, smoky aroma that is very flavorful and yet very subtle. I am really enjoying the uniqueness of this one.

Perfect Flavor! 12/26/2016
Gave this Organic Gunpowder Green Tea to my husband as a gift, he likes it better than any other of the numerous green teas hes ever had. I find it to be a smooth flavor as the description says and not bitter like others Ive tried. Got 3 steepings out of 1 teaspoon, very nice !

Traditional Gunpowder Tea 11/9/2016
Earthy and grassy. Some gunpowder teas I have tasted lack the grassiness that I prefer. This is spot on!

China Gunpowder Organic Green 7/16/2016
I drank Gunpowder green for years but gave it up because of a sour or citral taste and slight harshness. Recently I got the organic, to see if there was a difference. It is by far the best Gunpowder Ive ever tasted and has become a favorite. It has the unmistakable Gunpowder flavor but nothing sour or citral or harsh. It would have been the perfect emboldening tea for travelers to drink in a dark old Chinese inn, while their drivers packed mules out in the courtyard under a heavy rain, preparatory to a long hard journey.
