Detailed Description
One of China's best-known teas! Gunpowder, is produced in the Zhejiang Province in eastern China. This tea was originally rolled into pellets (resembling gunpowder) to help keep it fresh for as long as possible on the long journey across the oceans.

These silver-green, tender buds and tips brew to a light amber cup, with a good body and a light lemon after-taste.

Brew tea at 180º - steep for 2 minutes.

Gunpowder tea pairs well with recipes for fish and smoked meats, and is excellent in salad dressings, sauces and spice blends.

Green Tea Martini

½ cup hot green tea
2 oz citron vodka

ice cubes
an orange twist

Put the sugar in the hot green tea and stir until it has dissolved. Let cool. Put in a cocktail shaker with the vodka, Cointreau, and some ice cubes. Shake well and strain into 2 martini glasses. Garnish with an orange twist.

Solid Green 6/21/2019
A good tasting green tea with moderate vegetal flavor and a slight citrus aftertaste. To me this tastes like prototypical Chinese green tea.

This tea is somewhat delicate, with undertones of hay. No sweetness to it. A nice gunpowder tea. A good mid morning tea for me.

Earthy. 12/5/2016
I just finished my first order of this tea. It is powdery in texture. I had read about gunpowder green teas The gunpowder was described just like this tea. I just received my winter catalog, and thought I could use a different approach to black tea.. It left a mild smell of the earth in my nose. Not overly bothersome as some other Green teas that you can find at other retailers. It brewed a nice pale yellow/ green color. It helped me relax. I had a very busy day, and felt clogged up from my day. This tea helped relax some of the restrictive feelings. Though this wont be an every day tea. This will be a great tea for later in the day, when I want to release the toxins of the day.
