Detailed Description
Yunnan, known as the birthplace of tea, is a province in southwestern China that borders Vietnam, Burma, and Laos. Yunnan translates literally to "south of the clouds". Its diverse landscape offers everything from tropical rainforests to mountainous terrain and is home to a wide variety of plant species. The Yunnan region focuses heavily on agricultural production.

Yunnan teas are particularly delightful as breakfast or early afternoon teas.

This exquisite organic tea is grown in Cangyuan county, a remote location in western Yunnan. It is comprised of long black and tippy leaves interspersed with ample golden buds. It brews to an amber colored cup with the slight aroma of pipe tobacco and a smooth, creamy, slightly sweet full-bodied taste.

Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.

Now the most expensive tea on my reorder list 4/8/2022
Darn it the more expensive one does taste better to me. >:-( I do like the Golden Silk, but this is now my favorite straight black tea. I’m in it for the sweetness and the smoothness. The word “tobacco” is usually enough to scare me away, as I despite the smell and taste of cigarettes so much I avoid the word entirely. However, oddly enough, I do sometimes find I don’t mind pipe tobacco at all. I get only a vague pipe tobacco note on this and I have to search for it.Let’s say it has all the notes in real pipe tobacco that I find pleasant. It adds nicely to the overall complexity.

Tasty tea 4/7/2021
Nice tea. Brews to a medium-full body and a dark brown/red color. Sweet floral aroma. Smooth texture. To my palate, very similar in character to the Golden Silk tea from S&V. Whether it's worth the price premium will be in the eye of the beholder.

Cold-brewing did it for me. 4/1/2019
Brewed hot, the tobacco and melon notes were unpleasant to my taste. Cold-brewed, the same flavors I find absolutely sublime.

Perfect combo 4/29/2018
It is exactly as described! My brew was a bit deeper than amber, but my steep time may have been longer. The aroma is smooth and perfectly blended with the tobacco notes subtle and inviting. I had my first cup with a bowl of veggie congee and it was the perfect combo. It has become my favorite savory rice accompanier. I regularly get 3 resteeps, which really made this a valuable buy. The leaves are beautiful to see in my tea ball waiting for another mental sojourn to the east.
