Warm & Inviting |

This Assam is perfect for any time of the day. It has a medium body that has a very light almost plum note to it. Excellent sip after sip and leaves you wishing your cup would automatically refill |

A Better Assam |

I have tried about half the assam teas S&V offers and this is the best so far. Satrupa has a bold enough flavor without any acidity or bitterness, and is well balanced. The leaves are slightly thicker and curled, and in my experience that often denotes a smooth drinking tea. Though I prefer Ceylon teas for their wood and malt flavors, this is a superior Assam. |

A lighter kind of Assam |

I was intrigued by some earlier reviews raving about this tea, but would have to agree with the last reviewer that it is not a stunner. Having tried most of Simpson & Vail's Assams, the tea lacks the maltiness that most seek in Assam. It's not a bad tea at all, but just a bit nondescript. |

This is a nice black indian tea. To me, a little generic, but brewed a strong, Indian-tasting tea that goes well with milk and sugar. |

Tied for Best of Show |

I needed to find a new Assam after years of using various excellent Harneys. I came across Simpson & Vail and decided to do a many-Assam tasting. I tried 2 ounces of I think 8 different Assams, did both descriptive and number ratings from 0 - 10. I can be obsessive about tea. Two Assams made it to the top ranks. this one and Harmutty, with 9-9.5/10. Here is my description: Great aroma, fruity, rich, cocoa notes. Malty, with good tannin but not bitter. Fabulous. |
