The man who would become Lewis Carroll was born as Charles Lutwidge Dodgson in January 1832. He spent his happy childhood under the tutelage of his Reverend father, and enjoyed creating fantastical stories for his ten siblings. It was not until after he had graduated university and became a lecturer of mathematics that he met Alice Liddell. He would entertain her and her sisters with the absurd stories that he later published as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. His most famous novels conveyed a childlike look at the seemingly arbitrary rules and customs of adult society.
A tea party plays a memorable role in Carroll’s most celebrated novel as the setting for Alice’s nonsensical meeting with the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. “A large rose-tree stood near the entrance of the garden” where, as the Mad Hatter told Alice earlier, “it’s always tea time.” To make our Lewis Carroll blend, we added our fragrant violet flavor to an Indian Black tea and Rose Congou tea, a China black that has been scented with rose petals during the drying process, to create a deep amber cup with an incomparable bouquet and a flavor that is absolutely heavenly.
Ingredients: Black Tea, Rose Congou tea, flavoring, malva flowers.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.
4 Ounces of loose tea makes approximately 50 cups of tea.
Please note that the photo is shown for our 4oz tin. We are also offering this in a 4oz pkg size, which will come in one of our double lined bags labeled with the name of the tea.

||Nothing short of magical!
|Let me first say that my favorites from SVTea are strawberry shortcake and creamy earl grey. Stating that first lets you know I am one that loves flavored teas and not simplistic flavors. This tea is my new favorite! I sipped this tea and was so very overwhelmed with how delightful it truly is! It tastes like Im transposed into a magical and whimsical story, sitting next to the mad hatter. It was so very cheery, feminine and scrumptious! I love it!! My absolute new favorite tea! I will be returning for a larger portion and have it as one of my go tos. Thank you Simpson and Vail for such beautiful tea that is beyond reproach!|

||If I were a writing desk...
|Seems the other reviewers werent quite so enthusiastic about this blend as I am. My mother read me *Alice in Wonderland* and *Through the Looking-Glass* when I was very little, and I have loved both stories ever since. (Actually, Ive wanted to LIVE in Looking-Glass world ever since.) When I first read the list of ingredients of LCs Black Tea Blend, I recognized elements Ive enjoyed in other tea brands--especially one that was sent to me from a friend in Germany--so I figured itd be a safe bet. I am delighted with the violet notes and have discovered that when Im feeling blue or lacking muster, this tea brightens my day. I enjoy it with a dab of honey and a dollop of milk.|

||Mad as a hatter
|It was agreed among a tasting party that if you preffered this tea over any other black you must be mad as a hatter. The tea seemed to put my tastebuds through a unpleasant gambit (or croquet field?) Of flavors. Many different smell and taste comparisons were jovially discussed among the group of 10 of us who tried it. We might all be mad here, but we werent over this tea.|

||This one is not for me.
|I drink my tea black. Perhaps this tea would be better with milk and sweetener. I used too much the first time and felt like I was drinking perfume. I do like rose but this was too much for me. I tried it again with less tea but still not something I want more of. If you love rose, this is the tea for you!|

||A good blend with a natural sweetness!
|This is a blend of tea that I wish I had when I was a little girl! It has a strong aroma that makes me look back fondly on little girl tea parties with my sisters and our stuffed animal guests!|
