Coffee was introduced to Indonesia by the Dutch in the late 1600's. Of the thousands of islands that comprise Indonesia, the larger islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi (Celebes) are known for their high quality Arabica coffee beans. This outstanding coffee is grown on the western side of Sumatra. Today many coffees in Indonesia are grown on small farms and are still picked by hand.

|An excellent coffee to start the day and for the afternoon pick-me-up. I ordered 5 different coffees trying to find a full flavored yet low acid coffee for daily drinking. Sumatra ties with S&Vs Anniversary Blend as being the best. Taste is subjective and in my opinion Sumatra beats out Kona for full body, flavor and smoothness. There is a nutty aroma when the coffee is brewing. Sumatra is satiny smooth to drink and has hints of butterscotch. This is excellent with a moderate amount of coffee cream and its equally tasty when made into bullet-proof coffee. Sumatra will definitely be a regular order item.|
