Yaupon is a species of holly that is native to the southeastern United States. Our yaupon comes from Cat Spring, Texas (about 2 hours southeast of Austin) and is grown and produced by sisters JennaDee Detro and Abianne Falla on their family land.
Yaupon is a sustainable plant that is natural and delicious. In 2011, during a harsh drought, JennaDee noticed that the yaupon on their property was flourishing while other plants were dying. She embarked on the journey of educating herself about the history and benefits of yaupon and, with her sister, they launched their business in 2013.
These brown leaves brew to an amber cup that has a roasted aroma and taste that is perfectly balanced. The smooth cup is roasted and earthy tasting without being overwhelming. Delicious! Try it hot or iced!
Brewing: Steep 1 1/2 tsp of yaupon in boiling water for 2-7 minutes.
