Shou mei (Long Life Eyebrow) is one of the famous white teas from the Fujian area of China. Available land for farming in Fujian is limited, as the province is mountainous and has many forests, however tea cultivation and production is one of Fujian's major crops. In fact, once upon a time Fujian was the only place where white tea was produced.
Shou mei is known as a "new-style" white tea. Traditional (budset) white teas are picked before the buds have opened into leaves. New Style white teas are mostly leaf picked after the bud has opened and processed almost the same as traditional style white teas. The multi sized brownish-green leaves are produced from the naturally withered upper leaf and tips and brew to a pale ecru cup If you're looking for a wonderfully refreshing, slightly sweet taste in a white tea, then we think you will enjoy this one.
Brew: 2 tsp tea in 8 oz. water (at 175°), steep for 4 minutes.
