(Serenoa serrulata) Saw palmetto berries grow on a palm tree that is native to the southern United States. Native Americans used these berries as a food source. It has been prescribed historically as a tonic to be taken to assist in recovery after an illness. Predominantly it is used in the treatment of a variety of urinary and genital problems. It is used to tone and strengthen the male reproductive system, and in cases of enlarged prostate or urinary tract infections.
Boil 1 tsp. in 1 cup of water and then gently simmer for 5 minutes.
