Licorice Root, c/s, organic |
(Glycyrrhiza glabra) Native to southern Europe and parts of Asia, licorice root is a very important medicinal herb for the digestive system. Used for its demulcent properties, licorice has been used to help ulcers, both of the mouth and peptic ulcers, and inflammations, and has been used as a mild laxative. It is also used for bronchial problems, coughs, hoarseness and mucus congestion. Its sweet, pleasant taste, when used in some medicinal blends, helps to make bitter herbs more palatable.
Caution: Large doses can lead to serious increases in blood pressure.
Boil 1 cup of water, turn heat to low and simmer 1 tsp. of licorice root for 10 minutes and then strain.
