(Rosmarinus officinale) The fresh and dried leaves are used frequently in traditional Mediterranean cuisine. In herbal medicine, Rosemary has been found to be a circulatory and nervine stimulant, and has been used to treat nervous tension, tension headaches, epilepsy, poor circulation, depression and many ailments for which stimulants are prescribed. For the last fifty years or so, the plant has been cultivated mainly for the vegetable oil extracted from its seeds. Made as a hot tea it creates perspiration so it has sometimes been used for colds and related ailments.
(Hemidesmus indicus) This plant, also called Indian Sarsaparilla, is found in South Asia, specifically India and Sri Lanka. Sarsaparilla was a principal ingredient in root beer and was traditionally used as a medicine. Internally, sarsaparilla is reputed to have diuretic and detoxifying properties which make it a widely used blood purifier and an important ingredient in spring tonic blend teas. Externally, it has been used to help treat a variety of skin problems such as psoriasis.
(Serenoa serrulata) Saw palmetto berries grow on a palm tree that is native to the southern United States. Native Americans used these berries as a food source. It has been prescribed historically as a tonic to be taken to assist in recovery after an illness. Predominantly it is used in the treatment of a variety of urinary and genital problems. It is used to tone and strengthen the male reproductive system, and in cases of enlarged prostate or urinary tract infections.
(Ulmus rubra) Slippery Elm Bark has soothing, nutritive qualities and is used for sensitive or inflamed mucous membrane linings in the digestive system. Especially helpful for a painful, sore throat and upset stomach.
