(Mentha spicata) A more subtle mint than peppermint, spearmint is refreshing and tasty and has many of the same benefits as peppermint. Its light, refreshing taste makes it a perfect ingredient in tea and herbal blends.
(Stevia rebaudiana) Reported to be up to two hundred (200) times sweeter than sugar, stevia is used in teas and in cooking but contains no calories. It is reported to be safe for use by diabetics and studies are being conducted to see if stevia can be used to help diabetics control blood sugar levels. Scientists are also trying to determine if stevia can be helpful in reducing blood pressure. This leaf can be sprinkled into other teas to sweeten them.
(Fragaria vesca) Strawberry leaf has been used as an astringent, a diuretic, and a tonic. It is said that it helps to improve digestion and aids in problems of the urinary tract.
(Fragaria spp.) Cultivated in mild climates around the globe, strawberries are the most commonly grown fruit in home gardens. This fruit is regarded for its distinct aroma and taste as well as its beautiful red color. These freeze-dried strawberries still hold the color and aroma of fresh strawberries as well as retaining the Vitamin content. (Artemisia dracunculus) Tarragon is widely used as an herb in cooking but also has a medicinal history of use. The ancient Greeks chewed tarragon to treat toothaches because of its ability to numb the mouth. Tarragon has also been used as a digestive aid, a mild sedative, and as a heart disease prevention aid. It also relieves insomnia, hyperactivity, depression, or nervous exhaustion.
(Ocimum sanctum) Native to India , Tulsi is revered in Ayuvedic medicine as a powerful healing plant. Called "Queen of Herbs" and "The Elixir of Life", Tulsi, an anti-oxidant, has been used for thousands of years for its healing properties.
(Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) Commonly used for the treatment of urinary tract infections and bladder stones and related problems, it is also noted to be beneficial for treating diarrhea, high blood pressure and cold sores.
(Valeriana wallichii) Valerian has been used for over a thousand years as a mild sedative and hypnotic (a preparation that brings on sleep). It is most commonly used to relieve mild cases of anxiety and insomnia, and has also been recommended for the relief of menstrual cramps and as a carminative, or preparation that relieves gas in the stomach and intestines.
Vanilla planifolia, is indigenous to Mexico, where it is pollinated by tiny humming birds and a bee called Melipona. These high quality vanilla beans are excellent in recipes and in teas. Mix with sugar for a delightful vanilla sugar that tastes heavenly.
(Vitex agnus castus) Vitex berries have long been associated with regulating female hormones, and have thus been used to treat PMS, menopause and other disorders related to hormone function.
(Prunus serotina) American Indian tribes used it for a variety of reasons: to treat upper respiratory problems, diarrhea and digestive problems, to ease pain during labor, to lower blood pressure and blood sugar, and to relax muscles. It was once a main ingredient in cough and cold medicines. Today it is mostly used in herbal formulas to help relax the muscles in the chest to ease coughs and bronchial problems.
(Ilex paraguariensis) Yerba mate is an evergreen shrub grown in South America. The leaf of this plant is praised for stimulating mental and physical energy and relieving fatigue and insomnia. The principle stimulant is caffeine, but it contains less than coffee, and yerba mate also contains Vitamin C.
