(Ginkgo biloba) Native to China, this tree is regarded as a living fossil - it has existed for over 200 million years! Ginkgo trees can be found cultivated in many places around the world, especially in cities since they are able to tolerate pollution and still thrive in small soil spaces. Amazingly ginkgo trees were able to survive the atomic blast in Hiroshima, Japan. Historically, Ginkgo has been used for its beneficial properties in improving circulation to the brain. It is used to improve memory, mental efficiency, and also helps to reduce anxiety, tension, headaches, and more.
Brew 1 tsp of herb in 1 cup of water at 212º - steep for 3-5 minutes.

Brain Tonic Tincture Recipe from Herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health by Rosemary Gladstar
Ingredients:
2 parts ginkgo leaf
2 parts gotu kola
1 part peppermint
½ part rosemary
½ part sage
Brandy or vodka (80 proof)
Preparation:
Place the herbs in a wide-mouthed jar and cover with brandy or vodka. Seal the jar with a tight-fitting lid and place it in a warm, shaded area for 6-8 weeks. Shake the bottle every few days to prevent the herbs from settling on the bottom.
Strain and rebottle the alcohol. The recommended dosage is ½ to 1 tsp. of tincture diluted in ¼ cup warm water, juice or tea three times daily for 2-3 months.
