Gaiwan's date back to the Ming Dynasty and while they range in style and price, they all consist of three compact components; a saucer, a cup and a lid. You can enjoy multiple infusions with a Gaiwan and although they require a bit of dexterity, you'll love seeing the tea leaves unfurl in the cup and enjoy the wonderful aroma of the tea.
Typically a gaiwan is used to brew oolong teas as these teas lend themselves to multiple infusions; however, gaiwans are also ideal for brewing delicate green and white teas.
