(Centaurea cyanus) Commonly known as Bachelor's Button, this herb is an annual plant that originated in Europe and is now cultivated in many places in the US. Cornflower petals are sometimes used externally as an eye wash and made into compresses to place on the eyes. It has been used internally as an overall tonic and diuretic. More often the dried herb is used as a culinary ornament and as an ingredient in tea blends.
