Comfrey Leaf, c/s, commercial |
(Symphytum officinale) A perennial plant found in damp areas in the US and Europe, comfrey is a favorite healing plant for many skin problems. It contains allantoin, which helps stimulate the growth of new cells, and so has been used for many years externally for skin wounds. Caution: Studies conducted over recent years suggest that taking comfrey internally may lead to liver toxicity. For that reason comfrey should only be used externally.
