Cardamom, whole green pod, organic |
(Elettaria cardamomum) A perennial plant originating in India, cardamom is now also grown in other tropical areas. It is a key ingredient in Indian cooking and chai masala blends, and is used in Turkey brewed with coffee. Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance. It is used in baking as well as medicinally. It has been used to treat infections in the teeth and gums, to treat throat troubles, and for digestive disorders. It stimulates the appetite and helps with digestive discomfort.

For Turkish coffee: Grind whole pods with coffee beans and brew (preferably in a French Press). This brew is traditionally served heavily sweetened.
Mulling Spices
Ingredients:
20 green cardamom pods
2 Tbsp orange peel
2 Tbsp cinnamon chips
1 Tbsp allspice
1 ½ tsp whole cloves
½ tsp ginger root
Combine dried spices in a tea infuser and add to simmering wine or apple cider. Simmer for approximately 20 minutes, then remove spices and serve.
